Wrestling

Wrestling is the oldest sport in the world. Wrestling is a winter sport running from mid-October through the middle of February. Mandatory practices will start In October and will run from 3:15pm-5:30pm every weekday. All students that follow the guidelines and make the commitment to the team, will be part of this team as there are no “cuts". Big, small, average size….it doesn’t matter in wrestling…you wrestle athletes your own size. There are 14 weight classes ranging from 106 up to 285lbs. A typical week will consist of a mid-week match with one or two other teams going head-to-head at each weight class. Most weekends are individual tournaments.

Head Coach:  Jordan Mason

Coach Mason enters his 1st year as the head coach of the Wrestling Colonels in 2024.  Coach Mason also serves as the Head Freshmen Football Coach and has served as an assistant coach for the Varsity Football Colonels since 2019.

Coach Mason comes to the Colonels from Union Commonwealth University in Barbourville, KY, where he studied history and played football from the years 2015-2019.

Prior to coaching, Coach Mason was a student-athlete at Campbell County High School, where he was a team captain of the football team, earning Top 26 Honors in 2015 and was a part of the 2012 State Championship Wrestling Team.  He continued his athletic career at Union Commonwealth University, where he was a 4-year starter as the team's center and long snapper, earning the UKOG award and being named to the All-Commonwealth Team in 2018.

In his first coaching season in 2019, Coach Mason was part of the staff that led the Varsity Colonels Football Team to an undefeated season, which led to a State Championship.  Now, as the head coach of the Wrestling Colonels, Coach Mason is eager to bring his dedication, strategic insight, and championship experience to the wrestling mat, aiming to lead his team to new heights.
