The CCH baseball program is regarded as one of the strongest in the tri-state. The team competes at the Freshmen, JV and Varsity levels, which play in the spring of the school year. Tryouts for all three teams are held in February each year, with the season playing through May, ending with state championship competition in June. "Cuts" are necessary to limit the roster to the KHSAA stated maximum. Student athletes are also expected to participate in the off-season conditioning program as directed by the head coach.
Varsity Head Coach: Bill Krumpelbeck
Coach Krumpelbeck graduated from Xavier University with a bachelor's degree, and later a master's degree in education. He came to Covington Catholic in 1976 as a teacher in the Science department. Coach Krumps has won over 1100 games, which is currently in the top 3 in Kentucky baseball history. Coach Krumpelbeck has the fantastic ability to draw out the best each athlete has to offer. As proof, there are many players that received college scholarships for baseball, and at least ten former players that are now coaching high school baseball in Northern Kentucky. Coach Krumpelbeck lives in Cincinnati, OH with his wife Carol, and his two daughters.
